Community Development in Beaufort Parish.Establish in the late 1940’s when a guild of Muintir na Tire was formed. From then until, and including this present year, it has involved itself, and the community in a wide variety of projects, some “once offs”, others of an ongoing nature. They cover material, social, educational and cultural areas.

The following is an example of some of the work carried out by Beaufort Community Council over the years. 

Material Projects. “Once Offs”.

Rural Electrification canvass, etc, E.S.B., Group Water Scheme, in conjunction with Mid Kerry Water Scheme.

Building car park at Parish Church, and initial lighting.

Contracting car park at Churchtown Cemetery.

Building Marian Year Grotto (new lighting system installed 1992).

One cross-erected on Carrantual 1950, new steel one 20 years later.

Re-construction of footbridge, spanning Giddagh at Mealis.

Burial of huge pile of scrap and garbage on commonage at Kilgobnet.

Erection of Community Alert and directional signs in locality.

 

 

Ongoing.

Annual cemetery clean up and providing altar etc. for mass.

Cleaning up of parish roads, in conjunction with Kerry County Council.

Planting and provision of trees for young people.

Developing Social and Recreational activities for our youths.

Progressive 31 card game for those who enjoy a social evening with out alcohol.
